is that all i am to you?

We taught (or are presently teaching I guess) Violet sign language. I took 2 semesters of ASL in college. We use the signs for eat, drink, more, momma, daddy, diaper, bath, etc. All the things in her daily life she may need to communicate. Well it seems she's gotten a little mixed up, because she now signs "milk" everytime she sees me.

It could be worse... she could be signing "cow" ;)

as you'll notice, the sign for milk is very much like cow milking...it is exactly like it.

Is this what I have to look forward to as a parent?

it may depend on whether or not you give milk.

yah, I'd have to say she probably knows exactly what she is doing...especially since she is nursing! :)

how old is your baby? there is a signing class here in town I am SOOO interested in joining...but maybe I could just do it myself, I am sure I could get a book or something.

you can learn online, there are lots of resources. violet is almost 9 months. she knows signs (you can tell by her reaction) but milk is the only sign she does. when i do the sign for "finished" when she's done eating, she gets very angry. when you're signing with a baby, you don't generally use sentence structure (unless you're actually teaching them ASL) so all you need to know are individual signs. There are tons of sign language dictionaries online.
