cheesecake

As I look down the line of my posts, it seems about half of the pictures of violet are what my momma calls "cheesecake" pictures. What is the mother's obsession with the naked baby? Is it because that's how she was when I met her? I don't want to see Conor in a Starbucks uniform anytime soon, and thats how he was when I met him. I find myself compelled to take a picture when she's in the buff. We all have them. Mothers seem to interpret embarrassing as cute. There's one particular picture of me as a tot in an angel costume on the potty. What is the lunacy that possessed my mother to take such a picture? I don't know, but if I were presented with the same situation now, I would do the same thing. We all turn into our mothers eventually and that's ok by me.

I marvel at my mother's sainthood everytime I think that when her first child was Violet's age, she was 2 months from delivery of her second. Writing that made me a little queasy.

Just keep in mind that there is an age-limit to the cuteness of embarrassing pictures. When I was 2 1/2, my picture was on the front page of one of the Boston Newspapers, stuffing my cheese-powder covered face with Doritos while I watched my Dad run in the marathon. I can look back at that now and see that it was pretty funny albeit a bit embarrassing. Should a similar picture be taken of me now and posted for all to see, not so cute and I'd probably be forced to leave the country. You, Conor, and Violet might want to sit down and come to a concensus about when would be a fair time for the nudie pics to stop ;)

my mom reminded me that there is a long stretch of time from when you are mortified by those pictures, to when you again find them cute. she recommended that i remember that when i send out pictures of the baby in the buff.

How about when you post the naked pictures on the Internet? We all lucked out to be old enough that all of our childhood photos are tucked away in a box somewhere!

I actually LOVE that post! I guess didn't really take the message to heart though, hmm? I don't know why I haven't commented on your blog. I think my intellect is a bit dusty these days, and I'll say something moronic. and Kait, are you just a magnet for crazies, embarassing moments and giraffes?

?!?!?! You are asking the wrong person, sister! The giraffe incident was a direct result of 80's cartoons and Strawberry Shortcake shampoo (keep this in mind for hair care products for Baby V). As for embarrassing moments and the crazies, I've tried to figure it out for years. you've known me for the better part of a decade (yikes!) so your guess is as good as mine. I've basically come to live a life where I am just always waiting for the punchline...
