violet with yak

yeehaw, it's state fair time! i want a chicken, a goat, a sheep, a horse, and a yak. i've got conor so hooked, he's scrambling for paper to write down a crazy looking rabbit breed he wants. (pictured below) yes, virginia. there's a rabbit in there.

with all the critters i want, i have found one that i do not:

now, especially for fat little pug i have included a llama photo.

15 rubber neckers:

What?! you don't want a jacob sheep?! Chirodad will be so disappointed. He wants a herd of Jacob Sheep along with some Highland cattle in our future menagerie. So glad you enjoyed the fair! I hate we couldn't make it yesterday. Oh, that rabbit scarily reminds me of a furby. Ech.

oh shut up. the crazy mutant sheep is a JACOB sheep? i knew i didn't like those things.

cbt-I KID, I KID! i smell and shed sometimes, but conor still keeps me around. of course i just nearly shaved my head, so i won't be doing much shedding.

chiro- i like watoosies. i think that's how you spell it. there are some down the road from my sister.

Um, Sv, I'm glad you didn't shave your head. Seriously.

Yup, Jacob sheep are fantastic! If you check out the Good Book you'll find one of the first stories of specific breeding/genetic selection (take that, Mendel). Some of the sheep have 6 horns!!

well it's pretty close. very short. i used to have stick straight perfect hair, then i got pregnant and it freaked out and got weird and wavy. i couldn't take it anymore. byebye hair. i've always liked my hair short better anyway.

why would someone breed those poor sheep to be covered in horns?

Something about a father-in-law making a deal with the son-in-law (Jacob) about being able to keep all the black sheep that were bred in exchange for the wellbeing of the entire herd. I think...

As long as you're happy with your locks! Mine is super freaky curly post-pregnancy. I acutally helped it out a bit over the weekend and had a bozo-the-clown fro...freaked my sister into believing that would be the hair style for her wedding!

When my hair was growing longer, it was pretty inclined to do the Bozo thing all on its own.

SD- I, too am amazed at the animal knowledge floating around here.

SD, I'm a reformed farm gal married to a farmer wanna-be! Besides, Sheep are Cool! But, not as cool as bees or fainting goats.

i heart sheep very much. i tend to like the ugly critters (i adore vultures, and i gravitated toward the geese with weird warty things all over their face) but no more than 2 horns per sheep please.

ChiroMum said...

SV, only YOU would like those freak half turkey, half duck birds! Only 2 horns, so are you a sheep purist, then?

sweetviolet said...

sweet! i figured you'd know what those are. so here's a project. the strange yak-like creature was not labeled. i, however, want one. i thought maybe it was a tibetan yak, but i don't think so. i want to know what it is, and where i can get myself one. yes. i want a yak.

sweetviolet said...

and i do like my sheep soft and wooly, but i don't mind a black sheep.

Conner's rabbit looks like a genetic mutation of a pom pom.

ChiroMum said...

SV, I don't know what breed that is, but I'll look for you when we go to the Fair. I DO know that yaks are in the same family as cattle and can therefore sucessfully be bred with one another. You need to find a goat-friendly yak...

Pants, I completely agree with you.
