conor and I get weirder by the day. One day we're trying to save a little money, and the next thing I know I'm looking up American communes. Seriously. conor wants some strange sustainable house. So I have decided to document what I want on my farm. This week: FAINTING GOATS. I shared the joy of the fainting goat with chiromum, who also wants them. She coined the term "scaredy cheese" which I find simply brilliant. For those of you who don't know the joy of the fainting goat, they have a condition which causes their body to freeze when startled, and they fall over. This will provide endless hours of sadistic fun for the Jensen kids.

I have yet to experience the joy of the fainting goats, but it sounds like fun to me.

Fainting goats looks like a blast.

I considered moving to a local commune before my last move. But I'm not sure if I'm ready to jump into the whole cult thing, again.

i do tend to go straight for the cult, don't i? i essentially just want to start my own jensen compound. conor's dad can pot, his mom can make quilts, and i'm sure i can scrounge up a talent of some sort.

When you've started the compound you should take up knitting.

I have a friend whose husband grew up on a local compound. When I was searching for my last apartment they kept suggesting I check out "The Property."

I don't know if you had cable when they were airing "30 Days" the Morgan Spurlock show on FX, but it was amazing. The gist is they send 2 normal people to live someone elses life for 30 days. One of the shows was about an "off-the-grid" commune. It reminded me of you...you should check it out...here's the link.

FAINTING GOATS!!! My favorite! SV - I could always take you under my wing and teach you to become a master beekeeper.

That 30 Days series was great! Chirodad kept looking for yurts (none were found) but they did have some pretty neat converted silo's. Definately Netflix it.

under your wing? very clever. in all honesty i would LOVE to learn to keep bees.

I was feeling a little clever today! It isn't very often that happens. Beekeeping is SUPER easy...amazingly, none of the chiro-family has been stung by our new pets.
